Feng Rong

Double Bass

  Feng Rong has been a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra since the 2001. Prior to joining the bass section of the HKPO, she served as Principal Bassist of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta at 2000. In the summer of 2001, she performed as Assistant Principal Bass at the Pacific Music Festival in Japan.

  Originally from China, Feng Rong came to Hong Kong to attend the Hong Kong Academy of the Performing Arts in 1997 under a full scholarship. Throughout all her years of study at the APA, she played Principal Bass in the Hong Kong Academy Chamber Orchestra and Hong Kong Academy Symphony Orchestra, and also she won the concerto competition, Performed ‘Bottsini Double Concerto for Double bass and Violin’ with Academy Symphony Orchestra. 

  While a student, she played a concert with members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for the Hong Kong and Berlin Goethe Exchange. In addition, she has also performed on a tour to Bangkok and Hanoi, in Austria, Italy, and Holland at the Carinthia Festival, in France at the Casal Festival, and in Barcelona and London. Following her studies in Hong Kong, she was offered full scholarships to both Boston University and Boston Conservatory for study Master degree in U.S.A.  

  Feng Rong has studied privately with Eddie Zong, Principal Bassist of the Hong Kong Phiharmonic Orchestra. Martin Dobner, Principal Bassist of the German Radio Symphony, Owen Lee, Principal Bassist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Harbart Mayer, Principal Bassist of the Vienna Philharmonic, Dennise Trembly, Principal Bassist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. 

  Feng Rong has worked with worldwild great artist, such as Charles Dutoit, David Atherton, Jose Carreras, Vadim Repin, Renee Fleming, Yo Yo-Ma, Hilarry Hahn, Joshua Bell, Chantal Juillet, Wang-jian, Marin Ion, Lu Jia, Rizzi Carlo.  

  She has taught as a music instructor at Hong Kong Academy of the Performing Arts and The Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra Association since 2000.
