Hoi Kin Wa

Mr. Hoi Kin Wa studied the violin at an early age with Mr. Tam Zi Hung and later Mr Cheong Chan Pong and Miss Cheong Wai Ling taught him at the St. Pious X Academy of Music. He joined the Macao Chamber Orchestra and became its full time administrator after thirteen years of performance with this orchestra.

Mr. Hoi became engaged in the promotion and the educational work of art for the Cultural Events Department of the Institute of Culture of Macao.  He later joined the staff of Macao Conservatory.

Mr. Hoi has always had fervent interest in music education for the young and has become actively involved in the promotion of music at local schools with the help of friends with similar ideals and interests to this day. In 1996 Mr. Hoi became the President of MacaoYouth Symphony Orchestra Association, MYSO.

After having concluded the "Art Management" program provided by Hong Kong University, Mr. Hoi has been engaged in work related to art management as well as becoming the executive coordinator of the Macao Youth Musicians' Competition. Today he is not only holding the position of full time President of MYSO and the President of the Macao Children's Choir of which he is one of the founders, but is also a member of the National Committee of the 8th China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Moreover, Mr. Hoi is a member of the Christian Sheun Tao Church, Hong Kong and Macao District Union Association and has been the conductor of Kindness Choir for many years.

 Enthusiastically participating in music training at local schools for more than ten years, Mr. Hoi has assisted many schools in forming their orchestras.  He is the conductor and instructor of the orchestra of Pui Ching Middle School. Recently he is not only involved in assisting and training students of Macao Baptist College and Sacred Heart Canossian College but also in helping them from their school orchestras.

Mr. Hoi has worked tirelessly with the MYOS by presiding over its activities and participating in the music training of its members. The overall development of the orchestra has always been his priority which resulted in the orchestra performing in Australia and Singapore under his leadership in the year 2000.  In 2008, he took the orchestra to China to perform at the China National Opera House and at the Musikverein and Salsburger Mozarteum  in Viena. Their first  tour took place in China in 2008 when he led the orchestra to perform in seven cities including Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing. In July, 2010, the orchestra successfully concluded their "Euro Tour" under his guidance. They travelled to Portugal to perform in the "Festive Ao Largo 2010" and then to Italy to participate in the "Music River Festival 2010" and in the famous "Young Euro Classic" in Germany. The orchestra carried out a joint performance with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra during their "Euro Tour" which was a thrilling unforgettable experience.

Mr. Hoi has been awarded the Order of Merit by the government of Macau Special Administrative Region of China.
