Huang Yi

Young Chinese conductor and music assistant to world renowned Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa

Huang Yi was admitted into the Faculty of Conducting of the Central Conservatory of Music of China with excellent academic scores in 2006, under the instruction of Professor Yang Li.

From 2007 on, Huang Yi has been instructed by noted conductor, Professor Yu Feng. During his study at the Central Conservatory of Music, he has received generous instruction, care and assistance from famous conductors Yu Long, Yang Yang, Lu Jia, Li Xincao and Xia Xiaotang.

Huang excelled in his major of conducting during his study at the Central Conservatory of Music, and topped in the faculty’s academic examinations for many times. He was handpicked by the world renowned Japanese conductor Ozawa to become his music assistant in 2009.

2009 – Conducting the Seiji Ozawa Ongaku-Juku at the Kyoto Music Hall, Japan, which was a huge success;

2010 – Conducting the New Year’s Concert and the music-season performances of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, which was a complete success;

2010 – Conducting the special symphony concert of the China Juvenile Symphony Orchestra at the International Youth Music Festival, which received enormous positive reactions from the audience;

2010 – Conducting the special symphony concert of the Kunming Symphony Orchestra.

In 2011, he is expected to conduct the China Philharmonic Orchestra and give special concerts during the music season.      In his capacity as Ozawa’s music assistant, Huang Yi has for many times cooperated with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the China Opera and Dance Drama Theater, and the China Youth Symphony Orchestra over the past years.
