LEE SIU-LAM, HOMER

  Homer Lee joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1987, and has been on the faculty of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts since 1988. In addition to his teaching duties there, he also conducts the Academy's Junior Symphony Orchestra.

  Homer has studied with many internationally renowned hornists including Cheryl Hoard (Former Principal horn, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra), Roland Pandolfi (Principal horn, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, USA), Alan Civil (Solo artist), Dale Clevenger (Principal horn, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, USA), David Krehbiel (Principal horn, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, USA) and Derek Taylor (Former principal horn, BBC Symphony Orchestra, UK).

  Homer has long been active in Hong Kong Music circles, even in his teens. He joined the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra in 1987 and has performed in UK , France and Australia during the overseas tours in the summers of 1979 and 1980 with the YSO. Since then, Homer had been principle horn with the Youth Orchestra until his continue study at the Academy for Performing Arts in 1983. He has also won many major prizes including the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship from 1983 to 1985 and the Lady MacLehose Prize to study at the Banff School of Fine Arts ( Canada ) in 1985.

  Homer Lee is one of the former members of “Les Six”. Being the most active horn player and teacher in Hong Kong, Homer is always be invited to perform and as a soloist with many of the music parties, such as Guang Zhou Symphony Orchestra, Macau Orchestra, Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra and Hong Kong Festival Band. He is also be heard on many of the music appreciation programs broadcasted on the television and radio, and has done extensive studio recordings. He had been invited to perform with the world famous Orchestra of the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields during their visit in Hong Kong . Homer had represented the Hong Kong Philharmonic twice to participate at the Asian Friendly Concert held in Fukuoka , Japan in the summer of 1994 and 1995.

  Since 1996, Homer has been invited by the Macau Culture Department to give horn masterclasses, workshops, wind quintet concert and be adjudicator for the Youth Music Competition in Macau Youth Music Festival.
